Reasons To Have Tiny Dogs # 2

admin | Uncategorized | Monday, 31 December 2007

Tiny dogs are the next best things to babies! My pommies weigh in at about four pounds–though smaller than most human babies they’re oh so warm and satisfying to hold! They love to be cuddled and will lay in virtually any position, whether it be on my shoulder, burping fashion, or lying bonelessly on their backs in my arms, or flattened out on my chest as I watch TV or read.
In many ways they’re even better than babies. You don’t have to suffer through nine months of progesterone poisoning, swollen ankles, stretch marks, or twenty hours of labor to get them. Tiny dogs won’t keep you awake all night, spit up on you, cost a fortune in diapers, get mysterious rashes or outgrow their shoes every two weeks. Tiny dogs don’t throw tantrums (usually), don’t repeat every naughty word they hear, don’t come home with strange piercings or tattoos, date insolent boys or look at you like you’re insufferably stupid, possibly brain-damaged. You also don’t have to pay for a tiny dog’s college, and, it’s not only legal, but responsible to spay them.

Kismet’s Getting A New Home…

admin | Kismet | Saturday, 29 December 2007

Today Kismet is going home to live with our youngest daughter, Abby. I’ve known for awhile that this day would come and it will be great for both Kizzy and Abby, but I’m still a bit sad. We’ve had Kiz since she was eight weeks old and she really doesn’t know anything else. On the other hand, Abby loves her to pieces and will give her tons and tons of undivided affection…plus her dad and I will both feel much better with Abby living in the city with a doggie to keep an eye and a nose on things–Kizzy may be small but she’ll bark up a storm if anyone who doesn’t belong comes around…

And we’ll still be a second home to Kiz. She’ll get to come home for visits and we’ll get to doggie-sit when the kids go on vacation or just want to get away for the weekend. So I suppose it’s for the best.

Still, I’ll miss her triumphant “wooo, woo, woo!” every morning and the funny little way she “claps” her paws together when she wants something. And who will get long black and white hair all over me?

Blog Business Cards?

admin | Uncategorized | Friday, 28 December 2007

Every time I tell someone about my blog they ask for the address. I write it on a scrap of paper or a check stub, which they probably later mistake for a piece of purse trash and toss into the garbage. I’ve been thinking that maybe I should print out my blog addresses on my business cards, and for those who are REALLY interested, maybe something cool like custom pens. Pens are cheap, easy and useful. Any thoughts?

TV Envy…Size Really Does Matter.

admin | Uncategorized, Weenie | Friday, 28 December 2007

My husband’s nursing home has decided to get a new big screen hi-def TV for the resident’s living room area, so last night we went and priced all the different models and a tv mount. What an eye-opening experience! I was fine with our 27 inch television until I saw those…They’re HUGE! And the picture is way clearer than ours…it was like being right in the middle of the action!

Picture it; Weenie would think she was right alongside the wolf pack as they took down the aging elk. After tearing it apart and devouring all the choice bits, she would join in on a communal howl-fest…

Alas, hubby thinks the huge HD TV’s are too expensive. I think he should stop being so selfish and think about poor Weenie for a change.

Sofa Spuds

admin | Uncategorized | Thursday, 27 December 2007

Do your dogs watch TV? Ours do, especially Weenie, she’s a confirmed sofa spud. We were watching a program on National Geographic a while back, it was about wolves in the wild and Weenie kept barking and howling…Harkening back to her wolf heritage, perhaps?

The dogs also like to have a television or radio on when we have to leave the house. My husband swears they bark less when they have that background distraction. Now he has decided that the dogs would benefit greatly from a big screen TV and a Bose home theater. Hmmn.

Be Responsible, Always Scoop

What a good boy! But if you are unable to train your dog to do this, you might want to invest in a waste scoop. The Skoop-n-Pak is a hand’s free device, there’s no need for disposable gloves–a roll of bags fits right inside! By Pet Zone.

You don’t have to stoop to scoop. The S.A.S.I. Scoop would be great for people with a bad back or who have a LOT of poo to collect. And at 19.99 it’s also economical. Amazingly, this device was invented by a ten year old! Which just goes to show you what a kid can do when confronted with an unpleasant chore!

Own a Great Dane? Mastiff, you might consider the The Poop Hound by Hound Dog, for those really big jobs.

Whew…Christmas Is Over

admin | Uncategorized, Weenie | Wednesday, 26 December 2007

Wow did we have a crowd on Christmas! All but one made it so the house was filled to bursting. We had a ton of food too, in fact, my fridge is still stuffed with leftovers. I had ham and cheesy potatoes for breakfast, I’ll probably have turkey for lunch.
Before it’s over I’ll need to break out the hydroxycut.

I think everyone had a great time! All the kids got home and my two youngest daughters helped out with the baking. Although, we did have a bit of trouble keeping them focussed on the job at hand…

The pupsters really enjoyed themselves too! Everyone got special Christmas treats. Ginger loved visiting with her uncle David and aunt Randy and the boys. She was so worn out at the end of the day, she was tucked in and sound asleep by six.

Weenie also really enjoyed herself! During the gift exchange she found a comfy spot by uncle Dale (on the forbidden couch) and made herself useful by becoming a bow repository.

Gift For Dyslexic Dog Lovers…

admin | gifts for dog lovers | Wednesday, 26 December 2007

Here’s a shirt for all the dyslexic dog lovers out there! The Dogfather tee is made of 100% preshrunk cotton. At 16.95, it’s an offer you can’t refuse! dogfather.jpg

Unfortunately, I found this cute shirt on the internet the day before Christmas. If I’d had more time I’d have ordered it for my hubby, since he is daddy to seven dogs. Also, I don’t know if this qualifies as dyslexic, but my hubby teases me constantly because I turn words around, whether speaking, reading or writing (thank goodness for chellspeck). It’s even worse when I’m stressed out, so I’ve been doing it plenty this past month, what with the horrible weather, my sister’s surgery, trying to get all our Christmas shopping done and preparing for the big Christmas party.

I think I did more online shopping this year than I ever have before. In fact, lately I check the web first for whatever I need, whether it be Alpaca wool sources or term life insurance quotes. I honestly don’t know how I ever got anything done before the internet…

The Kiss…

admin | Uncategorized | Thursday, 20 December 2007

I’m not an overly sentimental person, but this story made me well up a little. I hope this dog’s owners gave him a big hug too!
Here’s to all the heroes out there!
