It would be awfully nice to be a dog. You get to sleep a lot, nobody cares if you drool, and you don’t have to worry about things like property taxes and term insurance. Even better, you get to chew on toys like this Bite Me Big Mouth Dog Toy. If I were the sort of person to spend $10 on a toy that would be completely destroyed in a day or two, I’d definitely get one of these. I love the huge mouth.

I’ve always found that dogs will eat just about anything and love it (including corn on the cob, in some cases). For that reason, I’m not entirely sure that these Mrs. Beasleys Gourmet Doggie Treats aren’t just a little crazy. $40 for dog treats? Maybe if you’re Paris Hilton, and your jet-lagged pup needs a pick-me-up, but in our house, cheap rawhide strips seem to be the best buy.
Here’s what Mrs. Beasley’s has to say about this posh doggie gift tower:
Because our dogs are part of the family, we’ve created this delicious and healthy new tower of treats just for them. This cute two-tier tower has a plush doggie on the top and contains a specially selected assortment of all-natural gourmet doggie treats created for Mrs. Beasleys. Includes Pumpkin and Cheddar flavored cookies from Wet Noses, and an edible dental chew bone and All-natural Beef and Rice Jerky from Zacks. Tested and approved by our Old English Sheepdog, Baby Beasley!
Hmmm….I wonder how many Snausages and Milkbones I could get delivered for the same amount…I’m guessing the package would outweigh my tiny dogs.

It’s no secret that most dogs are natural swimmers (doggy paddle, anyone??), but that doesn’t mean you should always count on their swimming abilities. Kismet here spent this Fourth of July out on Vandalia Lake, where the water was anything but calm. Because there were so many boats on the water, we made sure she had a life jacket, just in case she happened to fall or jump into the water. When the lake gets crowded, the water gets choppy, making it harder for her to swim and harder for others to see her natural colors in the water.
As you can see by the pictures below, she had a great time out on the water. She wouldn’t stop grinning - Caribbean cruises couldn’t have made her happier. Best of all, she stayed safe the entire time. If you’re in the market for a dog jacket of your own, check out Fido Float Life Jackets at Drs. Foster & Smith. They range from about $16-$30, depending on the size your dog needs.

If your dogs spend a lot of time outside in the summer, it’s important to make sure they’re hydrated - especially older dogs or long-haired dogs. This doggie water fountain may be exactly what you need, assuming you have a spigot handy. Doesn’t that little guy look happy?
You can get your own Automatic Dog Water Stream for about $70 at Skymall. You could get some solar light fixtures and it would be a great watering hole for both day and night.
