<description>Luscious. I am supposed to be out Christmas shopping ( the most wonderful time of the year....my foot ), instead I sat for over an hour and read "the dog blog". It was worth it. I am mentally incapable of reading about an animal being hurt. It haunts me. I wear my heart on my sleeve. It's hard to admit, but I do not feel that way about many two-legged creatures. I was raised to believe that owning a dog requires the same responsibilty as taking care of any other member in the family. My father would walk in to the nearest pound, ask for the dog that would not be around the next day, and the only requirment was that he or she would have to patient with children.
Our dogs would last six months to...maybe if we got lucky two years. I can still see my dad in our backyard wailing till his knees buckled. We would cry for days, I believe three to four days later was the allotment for a brand new dog. They all had issues. I am 38 and I did not have any knowledge of prozac when I was a kid, but most of our dogs would have thrived on it.
I am tongue-wagging ( no pun intented ), here. I have a white-coated wheaten terrier from a puppy mill. My daughte is asmatic and is allerigic to the lamp post. I try to relieve my guilt by getting a mill puppy not a private breader that wants you to actually mail in the dog food can labels to prove you are feeding them the food that they want you to feed them.
Last. I promise!!! My dogs have always been wonderful. Mill or not. Treating them like part of the family, with love and respect....and an occasion bowl of light icecream, you will be blessed with a wonderful dog.
My name is Rain. I have my masters degree in English from Georgetown U, and I am a freelance writer. That explains the running at the mouth.
My dad is 77. He is a retired mechanic from United Airlines. Since his retirement 20 years ago, he has dedicated his life to volunteer work with an emphasis on animal rescue. I mean....he actually rescues pigeons that cannot home. He picks them up all over New York and brings them to the airport. They crate the pigeons there and sent them to a state that escapes my mind at the moment, where they won't kill them for....well....not finding their way home. I mean, I dated a guy once that was brillliant. He couldn't find his way out of a paper bag. No one was going to stand by and let me snap his neck.
Life can be so unfair.

Happy Haunakah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

<description>How sweet. We've traveled with our cats, but it's just not the same. Once we have a house, I want a doggy.
