I Miss You Little Kibble

admin | Uncategorized, doglog | Wednesday, 08 August 2007

Exactly one year ago today, my precious little pommie, Kibble passed away. She was only nine. She was already three when I got her, a retired breeder like the two pommies we have now. Apparently, she wasn’t the cash cow the breeders had hoped she would be so they got rid of her. She had several serious health problems, but I knew that when I took her. Her teeth were terrible and most had to be pulled. Poms are known for their bad teeth, they need to be cleaned by the vet at least once a year and doggie oral gel should be used on their teeth every day. Kibble also had serious heart murmur, I can’t imagine what her former owners were thinking breeding her. She was prone to bladder crystals and had to be on a special diet. She had thyroid problems and lost most of the fur on her body and had to wear preemie sized outfits in the winter–she weighed less than three pound dripping wet. But despite all her problems she was one of the happiest, sweetest, most loving little creatures I have ever known. For the six years we had her she required daily medication for her teeth, her heart and her thyroid but despite medication and constant care she eventually developed congestive heart disease. Nothing the vet tried helped, they told me her poor little body was just giving out. I was holding her when the vet gave her the shot, she never took her eyes off my face, even after she was gone. She’s buried in my front yard, her grave is marked with a concrete statue of a little faithful dog. I’ll never forget you sweet Kibble.

My Very First Post

admin | doglog | Tuesday, 10 July 2007

Bear with me, I haven’t gotten quite situated yet, don’t even have my background theme picked out as of the moment. Everything is all white and quiet, it’s sort of weird. But I do know what I want to blog about. Dogs. Dogs and all things relating to dogs. Especially my dogs. I have seven, I’ll list them in order of size, starting with the shortys since they’re normally the last to arrive anywhere. Our two poms are named Brownie and Twinkie, they’re very best buds. Then there’s Kismet or Kizzy as we call her, she’s a Japanese Chin and you may have already met her on my other more established blog; ficklefood, next there’s Wishbone, she’s a Jack Russell mix. Then our dachshund, Weenie and her best friend, a really lovable mutt named Beans, who you also may have already met on my other blog. Lastly, there is Ginger, a poodle cocker and ? mix. That’s the crew. I’ll keep you updated on any mischief they get into.
